Venus Fly Traps in Bloom
« on: June 23, 2008, 08:44:14 AM »
Not spectacular, but pretty nonetheless:

These were planted in this pot in the fall of 2006 and have made it through two winters here in zone 7 piedmont NC (they are native only to Zone 8 NC and SC near Wilmington, NC).  I bring them into my unheated garage when the temp drops below 15 deg F, but they remain outside the rest of the time-they need winter dormancy to survive long term.  The pitcher is new (S. purpurea) and replaced a butterwort that bit the dust this winter.

I can't, Annette.  This summer heat has burned them all out!   :'(

The daylilies are actually blooming pretty well, but all the other carnivorous plants have dropped back to just eatin' bugs!  I'll see what I can find for you tonight in bloom!
