Lilly's and winter?
« on: September 18, 2006, 04:24:11 PM »
I'm REALLY new to this plant stuff so bear with my possible stupid questions.  I think I'm in Zone 9, Bay Area, CA.  I have 5 lillys in my pond.  Do I need to do anything for them, once it gets cold? Not for a few more months.  Are their leaves supposd to fall off in the winter or will they keep them and just turn yellow?

Thanks!

HollDoll, just get the dead stuff out. Other than that leave them in place and kick back and rest when all goes dormant. I'm in Zone 9b here in Central Florida and even my tropical survives in the pond.

Happy ponding,

If you think that your question is dumb, imagine how totally stupid you will look if you don't ask it.

HollDoll, What part of the bay area are you?
I'm in SW Santa Rosa, and I am USDA zone 8. I think Sunset zone 10.
I think I have a site to find your USDA zone
http://www.thegardenhelper.com/hardiness.htm    I hope that is it.
