A walk in the sand

The fetching Mrs. Mikey and I were at Corona del Mar today, a very overcast day with no sun.


There was a sand castle building contest with various levels of ability, including a children's level.  Contestants had about 1.5 hours left to go when I shot these.  Most of the sculptures were so-so.. but the contestants were enjoying themselves.












Entrance into Newport harbor, Balboa etc.




Can't build much closer to the Pacific than that.


Pointing down, the Fetching One grinned and asked if I saw the seal and her pup




Leave it to Californians to put a seal & pup statue on a rock in the surf zone.
