We were in the 70s today, the fish are eating and ponding and gardening can't be far behind!
All looks like crap, but that will change soon.  My heart is beating a little faster with the promise of Spring! O0 o(:-)

Yeah, Yeah rub it in some more.  20*F and snowing here, will have to wait months for any gardening.  The only reason my heart is beating any faster is because I just finished shoveling >:(

Jerry!  Garden work already in high gear here!!  Just plunked down two bare-root roses in the front yard; weeded; cut back the tomato vine that hasn't stopped growing  :o ; and picked some really sweet oranges from this winter's bumper crop.

Will need to rake all the leaves that fell off the nectarine tree; cut roses back; add more mulch; and way too much else before taking care of the ponds.

Sure didn't mean to rub it in guys!   I just was so happy to feel the gardening and ponding enthusiasim returning. o(:-)
I feel for those with cold winters.  I grew up in PA, but don't think I could handle the snow and freezing temps.  Heck, if I were single id be in Hawaii! o(:-) 8)

Its blasted cold here! Snow on the ground, single digit temps at night.
It should be getting better soon. We rarely have hard cold weather past
January.

Yup, just spent a little while gardening here too.  One is a Red Lion and the other is White Dazzler. I also purchased 5 started Paperwhite bulbs. If they blossom, I'll post pictures.

Its starting to warm up a little here. What a relief! They are saying highs around 40 by the weekend. We should be out of our hard bitter cold weather now. Its been a long three weeks.

I have an amaryliss bulb sitting in my kitchen window. I'm not sure if its going to sprout. ::)

I'm just waiting for it to get above 0 deg. Tonight's supposed to be 11 below.
This weekend should be nice though. It's supposed to get into the 20s for the highs.

Spring?----------I don't think so.

But then again, I live to go ice fishing, so I'm in heaven,  or have I alreay gone to hell?  Not sure about that one.

The ponds will probabaly freeze to the bottom this year. Hope my pumps don't break. I always leave them in the bottom of the ponds. Crossing my fingers on this one.

I found the weather insert for Merida, so my sig says it all.

I'm excited because they started demolition and construction on my house this week, we're heading back over there tomorrow.

We've been over on the southern Caribbean coast near the Belize border which is beautiful but we're in the part that was really devastated by hurricane Dean.  It's sad.  Miles of mangroves are dead and I don't know how long it will take for them to come back.  All the salt from the storm surge killed them.

Then again, it's not all bad  O0  This was our home for a week while volunteering at spay and neuter vet clinics.

Not bragging or anything - It has been cold for SoCal....brrrrrr!  Lows in the 40's, highs in the 60's.  :o  We've also had a few days in a row of rain  @O@  That has been a rare occurrence for sure.  Nice to wake up to fresh air.  :)

The water I've been collecting from the eaves have become cleaner, clearer than the first few days of rain.  By no means am I collecting enough rain to keep my pond filled for spring but something is better than nothing.  8)

If I lived anywhere very cold where there are minuses in the temp numbers I would be the frozen and in the ground!!  BRRRR!
