Welcome aboard MikeW!

For your info Mikey; Kaz' ship, Queen Victoria, will be at Berth 93.  I've been there but I will program it into my GPS just to make sure.

Yes, I agree!  The more the merrier.  And there is also Argos5 up in Ventura County area.  I hope I haven't missed anyone but everyone is welcome and I'm sure Kaz will love to meet everyone.

By the way, the fetching Mrs. Mikey won't be coming.  She's planning a wedding for a friend and is quite busy doing that at the moment.

I'll be making a dry-run down to the port today and look for a rendezvous location in San Pedro area.  For Wednesday I will also bring name tags for us and a "KAZ" sign so that she will know where we are when she deboards the ship.

Mike is sooo organized!  I wonder if there is a specialized travel agency talent hidden in him!?

LeeAnne can join us too.  Only 12 hours drive plus or minus an hour and depending on the road snow conditions....

Well my run wasn't very dry....  Got soaked after eating lunch at the Queen Mary.  The place I suggested for lunch I no longer recommend.  Service was poor and the food so-so.  Right down the road 3/4 of a mile from Berth 93, the location where the Queen Victoria will be on Wednesday, is Ports O' Call Village.  There are plenty of restaurants there(Acapulco + several fish restaurants)  and lots of free parking thus making it the ideal location for us to rendezvous with MikeW and Jerry.

Lets meet in the parking lot of Ports O' Call Village in parking lot Berth 77.  Big yellow sign will mark the Berth 77 parking lot.  If you are unfamiliar with Ports O' Call Village go to Google Maps and type in: Ports O' Call San Pedro California.  I'll let everyone know the time once I know.

UPDATE:Kaz just called.  She said disembarking of the ship is often a mess due to Customs.  We agreed to meet her outside her ship at 11:30am.  Thus, let's meet for the rendezvous location at between 10:30-10:45.  If you're late and don't see us, stay there because we are probably picking Kaz up at the ship and we will come back to Berth 77.

I bet you got soaked!  You did us all a great service by trudging out in the storm of the year (it's only January and this is SoCal).  Good call on the Village, although I haven't been there in years, it sounds like the best spot to enjoy a short afternoon before Kaz needs to get back on her ship.

See you Wednesday morning at the koi store!  Does 9:45am sound good to you, Mike?  Let me know.

Thanks a whole bunch for your research today!

9:45 at the koi store sounds fine Annette.  We had not been to Ports O' Call village for quite a while either and although we didn't walk around it looked like a lot of businesses were gone.  Not many cars in the parking lot.  It needs a major make-over.

It does indeed Mike.  I did signs for the Grand Opening, perhaps in the 60s  A friend had a pet shop there.  It has gotten seedy as can be.  I have fished on the party boat that runs from there
(The Matt Walsh) Cars in the parking lost have been robbed.  The word is, "Do not leave tackle etc, in view."

I sent you an email with a few thoughts to consider.  I WILL be at "Ports Of Call" as planned unless there is a change

I hope I am not muddying the waters.

I asked my son where in the Long Beach area would be convenient for us to enjoy and he suggests The Pike http://www.thepikeatlongbeach.com/generalinfo/index.php
There are way more restaurant to choose from and hopefully it's safer security wise.  Maybe this would be a good place to dine and enjoy our company.

It's sad to hear that the Ports O'Call Village is still run-down as it was many years ago.  That's prime real estate planned poorly - makes me crazy.  Tsk-tsk.

The restaurants at the north end of Ports O' Call looked fine.  It was the shops at the south end that looked run down to me but I didn't get out and walk around.  Wherever we decide to eat is fine with me.  I was just trying to keep it simple.  I've eaten once or twice at the New Pike but don't recall where we ate.
