Orange flowers
« on: April 16, 2008, 08:28:23 PM »
Looking for as many different flowering plants with orange blooms for zone 6. So need ideas!!  My 9yr old son wants to expand his flower bed this year and wants all oranges.  His fav color because his dirt bike is orange (KTM).  Yes a boy that LOVES plants and motorcycles.  He cooks too!  His all time dream is to own a green house!

There are numerous orange daylilies which are grassy perennials also orange Asiatic hybrid lilies which are bulbs.
There are orange roses in all sizes and forms

Here is a link to Heirloom Roses orange page, they are a great source:

Their roses are grown on own roots.

Never purchased from this site but there are pics:

Have never purchased from this site either but here are some more pics

California Poppy will grow fast from seed and may perhaps be perennial for you. They get big carrot like roots.

I found CA poppy seeds...so worth a try! Said annual here, but reseed easily - so might work ok.

Thanks for the suggestions. Keep them coming!
