Annette, I don't know if it makes a difference but they have been in the same pots for almost 10 years. Only the lower third to half of the bulbs are buried. When they are done blooming I will stick them behind the garage by my potting bench. It is like a narrow alley and during the summer will get a couple of hours of direct sun and shade the rest. They will get watered once, maybe twice a week depending on rain. Mine never go completely dormant. Even during the winter they will have a few scraggly looking leaves hanging on. When I remember I might put some 15.15.15 osmocote in there when they are done blooming. That's probably been once every three years.
