My tiny stocktank pond pics
« on: May 24, 2008, 11:47:55 AM »
I finally loaded some of the pond pictures to Photobucket so lets see if I can get them posted here.  If they don't show, I need help.  LOL!

Small pond with waterfall and plants.  I told my hubby to buy some black foam to seal up around the rocks in the waterfall and instead of buying it from the pond store, he said "oh, I found a can of Great Stuff in the garage so I used it instead of buying a new can".  Grrr...  Needless to say, it is a mistake he will not repeat with the new pond.

<a href="http://s299.photobucket.com/albums/mm310/tweetybaby2005/?action=view&current=Garden012a.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm310/tweetybaby2005/Garden012a.jpg" border="0" alt="150 gallon stocktank pond">[/url]

Edited to say - OK, can't load pics from Photobucket so I will have to attach the jpg instead.

I have included my purple martin house and the last pic is the future pond site (excuse the watering can lol).

It is really bare bone and I'm waiting for new fishies from my friend.  But it is a work in progress nonetheless.

Thanks for looking.

That looks really nice, Kuan.  For some reason, I had the notion that stock tank ponds were above ground.  Sinking it in the ground makes it look more natural, and helps keep the temperature stable, too, I'd think.

Hope you can get the rest of the pics up.

That's a nice start. And your little boy is cute!!!

1) Teach your boy to swim. Little boys WILL end up in the water.

2) Give it some time. Don't rush into a bigger pond. Use the little one to learn things - like plumbing and water chemistry.

3) If the "Great Goo" color offends you (doesn't offend me, it will be quickly covered with algae), you can spray paint it. :)

Happy ponding!

Ditto, ditto, and ditto. Little girls end up in the water as well.  ;) Mine did when she was three. Freaked her out! Boys are much more prone, though. Boys seem to have no fear, but maybe birth order has something to do with that?!

Totally agree about the smaller pond. Each and every rebuild of a pond begets more knowledge. A small pond actually is more learning-intensive than a larger pond, because it's much less forgiving.

Great Stuff foam actually matches my rocks better than the black stuff. And it weathers into a golden brown hue. Give it time.

Your pond looks great! I love the idea of a sunken stock tank. Perfect!

That looks great, Kuan!  Even though you don't like the look of the Great Stuff right now, I agree that it will soon have natural algae on it and won't be noticeable. Considering the type of rock (the same as mine, BTW), it may even be less noticeable than if you had used the black Great Stuff.   ;)

I think you're off to a great start!   @O@

Everything so pretty!  :)

Did you build the birdhouse yourself?
