Hydrandea Row
« on: June 08, 2008, 02:43:13 PM »
Every Hydrangea is in full bloom!  Just have to rub my face in each big ball of lacy petals!  8-)~

Last photo is of a 2 year old cutting that decided to out do the parent plant this year.  :D

Hope you enjoy!

yes they are beautiful.. my climbing hydrangae is just starting to bloom.. I am waiting for it to get prettier before I take a picture but I am so excited and waited so long for it to bloom.  My others that are normally blue are looking more like light purple, I believe they are gonna be pink this year.

I like the neutral white or blue flowers but this year I went natural (or was that just plain lazy?  {:-P;; ) and let the hydrangeas pick their own color.  :D

Thanks everyone!  Because of our cool weather the Hydrangeas are lasting longer, maybe 'cause they started later too.  :D

Very pretty. o(:-)

Last summer I bought my first one, an Endless Summer.  It never came back this spring, so I guess that was the End.

Very colorful Annette.  My neighbor planted one in full sun on the south side of her house and no protection from the west during the real heat of the day.  She really liked her new plant and I politely suggested she re-locate it to where it would get more protection.  I explained the plant loves water and with our sandy soil and hot sun it will burn.  She said the nursery person said it needed full sun.  I smiled and said no more.

It now is burned and looks horrible.

I bet your neighbor wishes they listened to you, Mike! $$

Hydrangea Row is the only shade area in my garden, thanks to the fence between the neighbors and us and also the twisted junipers we planted about 25 years ago.  Our soil here is all clay unless we amend it.  My hydrangeas have only been growing here for about ten years but the soil was amended by the junipers naturally.  ;)

Mine are barely leaved out.

I love the lace caps. I have a variegated one too. Hydrangeas grow like weeds here but they get so big that I don't have very many. I do have several 'Pia' which are dwarf mop heads. So far, they are staying small. Many dwarves get bigger for me than they are supposed to.
