question about feeding water lilies.
« on: June 11, 2008, 09:42:23 AM »
I just received a gift of 2 planted water lillies,
She didn't know what kind, or color they were.
My question is,What do I feed them?
And
Do they just bloom once and then not again ,till next season?
OR, will they bloom all season long?
Fish I can do, water plants are another story......... :)

As long as they are already planted, get a package of tomato spikes and put a spike a month in each pot.
They should bloom all season long.

Yep, I agree. Use the tomato spikes. They're easy, relatively inexpensive and work very well.
Depending on their variety they should bloom through your growing season for your area.
Some lilies are really good bloomers and others only produce a bloom or two per season.

I agree also, I use tomoto spikes.  Not always the easist to find, but are really good.  You want a highest middle number you can find, that's what promotes the blooms.

Ace Hardware is the ONLY place in town I can get tomato spikes.
One day I was in Walmart and they had a small display for them with one package left. ::) Its no wonder they were almost out, they were only 97 cents for the package of 18!! I wish they would have had more.
