Jelly caterpillar
« on: June 08, 2008, 10:14:51 PM »
Ouch ouch ouch!!!! >:(- Just been stung on the scalp by this wonderful looking "thing", comes in neon orange neon green and neon yellow. They live on the palms in attendance of ants. Brushed my head under a low leaf as I was passing and got those barbs loaded with poisons shot right into my scalp through my thick hair. OUCH! It stings like a wasp or jelly fish. Anyone have an idea what it is? looks like it should be  on the barrier reef.

We call them Asps. They are a form of caterpillar.
They have a major defense mechanism that you already learned about.

He's pretty, though.

What do they grow up to be?
