Hot and Humid Lilies....
« on: June 10, 2008, 09:24:09 AM »

I would have taken more pix, but couldn't take the heat.
Today is supposed to be cooling down, but I think it's the worst so far. :(

So you've been unseasonably HOT too?
We got rain last night which cooled things off somewhat but humidity is still high today.  Temps are going to be in the mid 80's the rest of the week which will be a nice change because I never have liked 90's unless I'm swimming!

So the Lotus don't smother the waterlilies?
Hopefully they can continue to grow with each other..

Gotta love those Arc En Ciel pads! :)

Yes, some lilies can handle the lotus, and others end up getting bulldozed, like my Lilypons and Gloire du Temple sur Lot.
Both got 'eaten' by lotus when we temporarily put them in the lotus pond while relining the big pond out front.
If you look closely, the lotus doesn't always grow right up to the edges, and I use those open places for lilies.
The Arc En Ciel is planted in the mud, 3 feet deep, in the midst of the lotus and it's doing just fine.

Look at this weather map:

Tomorrow is supposed to cool down for us.
It was 92* an hour ago, and now my window thermometer here inmy office, in the shade, is 90*.
So maybe it's cooling down already. :)

We are 94* right now...and my thermometer is in the shade.   :P

We have a mud bottomed pond...my father stocks it with bass and bluegills.  I was thinking about planting some lilies along the edges O0  Love the Arc en Ciel...really gorgeous!
