boring pics but for lotus lovers.... :)
« on: June 10, 2008, 08:48:55 AM »
the monster lotus which has 3 buds and the pond of unknown white lotus that was suppose to been removed this year cause It hasnt bloomed in 2 years now has two blooms on it... not sure if that will save it.. had my heart set on making it a lilly pond.  Kitchen plate shows the size of the leaves on the monster lotus.

Debbie, I'm with you. Is it Junuary? I've got squat for waterlily and lotus growth. No sun. My cannas are barely up, six inches is the most growth I've got on any of them. Raining again right now. Cold windy dark rain. I've got lights on to work at my desk with the curtains open.

thanks all..

Blondz that is the pond I dug especially for lotus. .its not very deep at all.. mostly filled with dirt in case I changed my mind later and wanted to dig it out for lillies or something.. but I only keep the water at best 3" over them but the majority of the time less and so far last year the one bloom it had was up in the shallow mud with almost no water on it and this year it now has 5 buds and they are all in the dirt I put on the very edges of the pond for marginals.  So I dont know if its cause lotus just naturally grow to the edges or if they bloom there because they like the mud better than the water.

Well they are beautiful and so big! I think I have mine too deep maybe between 6" and 12". I'm going to move it as soon as all the little tadpoles move out. I can't move anything without squishing one of them. :o I've been getting them out when they start sitting on the big rocks. Seems like everyday there are more frog and frog eggs. Don't they ever get tired!  lol

Tinkster nice!! Speaking of lotus..... The one you sent me that we thought may not make it? Well she seems to have recuperated.  @O@ This bloom is about 3 days old but as you can see there are 3 more right behind that one. @O@
