Shade Garden and Yard/Pond Pics
« on: June 13, 2008, 07:11:47 AM »
Got some new shots this am after lots of rain. Over 12" in the last week, so everything is pretty lush right now.

Enjoy,
Steve

Great shots Steve,
Man those hostas really do love youe shade.
I don't have any shade really to speak of so everything that needs shade has died over the years.

Oops, I'm not Steve.

Steve, your shade garden is gorgeous. It is really lush and jungly. Love it.

Everything looks Gorgeous!!  Love the variety of hostas used around the borders.  Did you build the fountain?  It's beautiful!  Ponds look like they're  set in secret gardens.

Wonderful hostas!!!
Do you divide your own? Is there a grower near you?

I can't grow hostas, not enough shade. But I think they are MAHvelous.  o(:-)

I don't think I've ever seen any photos of your yard before.  Looks great!  We just had a week of rain and ended up at about 4 inches in 7 days so not as wet as you guys, but certainly has greened things up.  It was pretty much a dust bowl before this rain.

Looks great Steve.  I'm amazed at how quickly things get growing where you are.  To think that just a few months ago things were frozen solid and covered with snow.  Amazing transformation...

That amazes me too.  It's so hard to imagine that anything could live through that ice and snow in your earlier pictures, and yet all of these gorgeous plants are there and the ponds and fish.  The Hostas are beautiful, I could never grow them in California as the snails would get them.  I love the way yours look and that fountain is beautiful and must sound great.  Nice place!

Thanks everyone.

Kay, that is weigelia-----whoops, I'm not LeeAnne, but I do like 151 O0 @O@
My friend built the fountain many years a ago and had it laying behind the garage. He told me that I should put it in my pond, but I didn't want it in there, so I built another pond. Makes sense right?
BTW, it sounds fantastic. I had a neighbor move away last year and she told me that she was going to miss listening to the fountain.

The second picture down, in the front is my new TATOO @O@. That whole planting is new this spring. It will fill in by next year.
I still have to find something for in front of the planting, low with a little color.

Lush and beauteous!!  It reminds me like Mikey said how cold and frozen solid it was and now, just look at it.  And the earth spins round and round cycle after cycle...amazing!  My gardens are lush also, lots of rain yesterday, but much more weedy---somebody ought to do something about that  lol  It has been so hot I haven't felt like going out there and doing it--thanks for the inspiration o(:-)

Wow, Steve! Your yard is stunning! Our home has very similar brick color and we have a deck stained similar to yours. In fact, looking towards your pond up against your house almost looks like a spot in my yard that I've been meaning to do something with. Hmmm....definitely inspired. I have a japanese maple in a pot in my spot that has done well for the past year. Maybe I can attempt to make my own pondsai, of course it wouldn't be a fraction as cool as yours or Joyce's. Definitely got me inspired!

Jessica,
If you built it, there is no doubt that it would be beautiful.  o(:-)
Just find your little niche, up against the house, build the pond and hide it with plants.
It's all about getting it done. I sure as heck don't know what I'm doing, I just do it.
Always seems to work out somehow.
Built a fire in the firepit last Thurs eve. Nice to sit by the fire, watch and listen to the fountain and falls. the drinks seem to be smoother sitting on that swing. O0
