Float Valve installed! At last. But ugly as sin!
« on: July 30, 2008, 04:25:32 PM »
I had some good advice from Greg and it went well.  I will make a right turn and hide the valve.
I was just happy to be done. Note, the turtles don't seem to mind the water bubbeling out.
A little hard to see, but there he is.

Good job, Jerry.  On a difficulty scale 1-10, 10 being the hardest.  How difficult was it to install?  I really need one of those.

Yes it works. but I will make the pipe turn right so the ugly PVC won't show...much.
The digging was hard. took a few breaks.  Things never go as planned.  Had to replace the sprinkler valve too.  I am not good at this! :'( :'(

The first time anybody does something they have never done before, they always think they aren't good at it. I'd say the next time you had to do it, it would go better.

I have a leak somewhere between the pump and the pond and I don't think it's in the waterfall. I have been adding water twice a day because I have the shutoff float when the water level gets low so I either need to find the leak or have Pete put in a float like yours.

very true Esther.  I always wanted to build a boat, but knew i had to help someone else build a boat first. Nothing like experience.
My wife is complainig about the pipe being so visible,  I told her "It won't be!"  I need to make a right turn.  She said "How could you do it that way?"  I said "easy."  I was so glad to get it done!
The change will take but a few minutes.

So is it tied into your sprinkling system? We have a sprinkler head right beside the liner.

NO.it is below a sprinkler valve. You may be able to see it in the first photo.  It was Greg's suggestion, and a good one.  more digging though!

Guess I meant, does the water source come from the sprinkling system.

Nice job Jerry O0 You should be able to hide the pvc with rocks and whatever your imagination comes up with. pvc in a pond is not pretty {nono}

You'll have to let us know how it works out in the long term.

I do get a kick out of not seeing the water level drop.

The best and obvious spot for the float valve is not useable.  had a cave in there when building the pond.  It is between the skimmer and pond wall. Just to shallow.
We will figure it out eventually.  Re-routing the PVC to a better spot comes to mind but more digging uhg! :'(
Probably the way to go

Just spray paint the pvc black and watch it disappear.  It's magic.
