Baby Doll Pix, With Red Rice
« on: August 03, 2008, 08:53:37 AM »
This is a good study on catching a subject in the perfect light.
Baby Doll Lotus paired with Red Rice Grass.
No flash, sun not yet up over the ridge...

Sun, up over the ridge, dappled through the ancient cedars.

Step back...

The grouping before the sun came over the ridge...

Very nice!  I like how you have other plants in with the lotus.  I'm going to have to try that.  Looks better than the pot of water a few straggly pads.  :P

o(:-)  Pics are great Joyce.  Very attractive grouping as usual.  The height of the rice adds to the over all pic along with the varigated leaves of the airplane (?) plant.   o(:-)
I love that frog planter...I LIKE frogs. {:-P;;

You can hardly see the lit girl peeking behind there...Hide-n-seek maybe.

How big do the leaves and blooms get on that lotus?

Thanks Sue, what I'll do later when I get home is post a photo with Bill or Jamie in it for size comparison.
But for now, the container is about 36" wide and @12" high but sitting on top of the limestone lions head antique footbath.
Yeah, that girl is completely hidden now.
New year it won't sit on top of the footbath...just cuz we moved this year I never got around to planting it.
Peace to all  ... Joyce

Very nice.

My Siberian pink cups are barely hanging on, any suggestions? should I pot in clay instead of gravel?

Yes, immediately if not sooner. O0
They like soil.
Mine even grow in just plain wet garden soil, not submerged.  8)

This little plant doesn't like too much water over its crown.
None of mine have more than 1".
