Lily pond doing great
« on: August 23, 2008, 11:18:44 AM »
The lily pond is doing great this year, added the goldfish to keep the snail population down, but I'm sure I'll have to be giving away babies next year.  Added a few new lilies this year and next year will add more I'm addicted and everyone here has made me more addicted and it is  so nice to be able to trade or buy lilies from the great members on this site.  The yard did not look the best for our pond show but the ponds preformed well......added a special something I saw on this site to the pond for the show (last picture) got the idea here it was a hit THANKS.

fast becoming a favorite my new Mangkala Ubol

Very nice.  I like your sign.  It reminded me of a tomsbstone I saw near a pond which read 'the first guy who peed in my pond'.  I thought to myself... the first??   lol

Absolutely beautiful pictures.  Your pond has so many different colors all blooming at once.  Looks like you have a lot of happy frogs too.  The boys are adorable.  I bet they enjoy the pond.

Karen, yes the boys especially the older one LOVES the pond, first place he goes when he gets here, as a matter of fact his first word was "fish"  Hunts frogs and tryies to catch them.

Kathy, yes Albert Greenberg and Pink Pearl are both tropicals.  Pink Pearl is new this year, it is such a pale pink it's refreshing from the bright colors of the other tropicals.  Albert Greenberg is one of my favorite tropicals, the variation of color in the petels is beautiful.  Not sure of the exact gallons, the pond is about 13'x18' with about a 10' channel that the bridge is over, it varies in bottom depth from about 12" to 3' in the center it also has marginal shelfs, probably over 2000gal

Marla,

Your photos are fantastic O0, and the lilies and pond are awesome. WOW @O@ o(:-)
My pond was just there this year. Not many blooms, but the fish are happy outside.
Could the unknown yellow be Joey Tomacek?

Thanks Steve....not sure do you have Joey...I belive this is the one I got from you was supose to be pink, but turned out yellow, it is a really nice size bloom, larger then Chromatella.  If you don't have a yellow, then I got them mixed up cause I have an unknown pink also, that is very pretty.

Thanks Kat,  It's been fun this year, lots of new lilies, can't seem to get a pic. of the whole pond so you can see all but half of the pond works, to bad the colors didn't show up very true.  Thanks again for the MU, it's a show stopper.

The skull I put in for our pond show as the flower gardens were lacking intensity due to the lack of rain we have had.  I took out the sign but left the skull, it is the same pond as DH's fake alligator so I thought it fitting.

Ok you asked and I complied with your wishes, not the prettiest pictures as we are in a bit of a drought right now, I tried to find some pictures of the ponds in full from earlier this year but couldn't so you get the drought pictures.  They are posted on the Photo album page http://www.americanponders.com/forum/index.php?topic=7163.0

Hi Marla, Wow your collection is really growing! :)
Everything looks just beautiful, all the hard work really shows... hope that you have been able to sit back, relax and enjoy.

You're having a drought this year too?  This year has been bad here again, no significant rainfall for some time now and the trees are showing it already.

btw, did you get the tropicals from TWL this year because I believe they weren't the best last year.

WOW MARLA! I just looked at your pics, and your pond is awesome!n I really like the placement of plants. Don't care about the dry grass. We just got our first rain in over a month.

Ours also was shovel by shovel. Do you know how much money you saved by not having to BUY rock?!
