Very cool Jerry!  That's a nice size.  Cavendish?  How do they taste?

I have a small banana but no bananas yet.  Thus I sing, "Yes we have no bananas.  We have no bananas today...."   :D

It is a mexican variety, the name escapes me for the moment.  They are good.  I love freezing them and having it with a bit of Yogurt.  It's like ice cream, well not exactly, but good!

I remember a contest from my youth where the challenge was to compose the question to which "Yes, we have no bananas today" was the answer.

The winning entry was "Is that an apple I see cut in two with ice cream, cherries and cram in the middle?"

Cheers,

Mike

We had some fierce winds for the last 2 nights.  The plants don't look nearly as good. A lot of debri to pick up.  Having bananas is a big thrill for me.

Ah, you likely have the manzana banana.  Manzana is Spanish for apple.

We have horrific winds today.

I am a few miles from Porter Ranch.  My "Y" is there and it blows there worse than here.
The news is filled with the fire storms.  The air is foul. Many have been evacuted. :'(

Hope you are safe and away from the horrific smoke, Jerry!  There is nothing but the fires showing on local TV.

The winds are bad here but not nearly as strong as up north.  My pond was wearing at least an inch of juniper firs.  Yard is covered with leaves from who knows where!?!  Lost a fabric canopy gazebo that got torn up.  Need to find shaded shelter for the plants beneath.

Hope your bananas are ok!  :)

Scary to see the fires on tv down here too.  Any of you in that area?

My son lives in LA but he is single now and so metro. I asked him about it and he said he hadn't been outside much in the last few days but his dry cleaner was complaining about the ash on his counter!  I asked if the santana's were blowing and he said, maybe that it had been breezy.  God!  He lives near the 405 and the 10 and very close to his office so I guess he just goes to and from work.

He did send me this pic, said one of his guys was at a client's office in Canoga Park and snapped it.

The 405 and the 10 are 20 miles away, so no worries.  It is only the hillsides with dry Chaparral that are the problem.
A few at the gym were wearing surgical masks today.
With all my trees I have mucho pine needles in the pond.  I did plant the pond in a horse shoe shape.  So the plantings stop a lot of debris.  It seems to be calming now and close to containment.  My Gardner comes today. One look and he may quit.

About 20 homes were lost.  No lives that I know of.

Santa Ana wind were very strong!!  Strongest in my area for a while.  Cool but very dry.  Hotter today.  :P

More winds in the area around the San Fernando Valley and north L.A. county plus gosh darn fire.  Copy cats everywhere with the fire so got to be careful and watch out for idiots.  >:(

Oh, I know he wasn't in any danger or close to the fires - I am from that area - it's just that he is so oblivious to what is going on around him, frustrates me sometimes.

The gardener came while I was gone.  Did a heck of a job!
Maybe it's time to stop calling them "Moe Blow, and Go" O0

Lots of small limbs form my Eucalyptus trees.  Really lots.  They must have taken some with them.
My barrels are full!

I'm in the same boat as you, Jonna!  And I raised my kids as a stay at home Mom.  Where they got the "SO" attitude they have now is oblivious to me!  :D
