Joyce: Are your tropicals the last ones up in the spring and the last one's down in the fall?  Mine behave that way....slow to start and slow to stop.....   Of course I didn't get to see any tropicals this year courtesy of a couple of turtles..... >:(

Ahhhh!   Beautiful to enjoy your lilies in October.  Mine are on their way out.  The last few blooms looked small and weak.  The is lower in the sky and I'm not getting much sun now.  'Til next year!

I get that effect too Mike. The hady lilies start blooming about six weeks earlier in the year for me, but the tropicals bloom away, often into December, long after the hardies have faded from memory.

Daily too - the hardies open early, but close early too, while the tropicals sleep in, but are in full show when I get back from the office each evening.

It might just be the actual lilies I have / have had, but for me, having both kinds really extends the season - significantly.

Cheers,

Mike

Very nice Joyce O0 I assume that these are in the pond that was running down the drive last week, huh?
Hopefully some day, I'll have trops again.

Joyce, what do you do to protect your tropicals in the winter?

Very pretty Joyce.
My three tropicals are still going too but the hardies are done for the year.
Depending on how our fall weather goes, they will go until the end of Oct. or even first week or two of Nov.

Thanks everyone! :)
Shanna, yes, I had Foxfire blooming thorugh October last year.  8)

Ruth, Most of the time I just let them die and buy or trade for new trops in the spring, usually trops I have not yet grown.
Sometimes I take them out and mail them back down south to tropical areas like Zolfo Springs, FL.  :D
If anyone wants these 2 lilies, just let me know.  O0
There are LOTS of vivips coming off them too.

Steve, yep, this was the flooded pond last week, didn't phase the water lilies at all.  :)

Yes, mine are last to bloom in the spring/summer and last to stop blooming in the fall,
with the exception of Arc En Ciel, Colorado and Shady Lady.
Peace to all  ... Joyce

Very nice, I also still have a few tropicals that are blooming and some even have buds yet to come, but if I don't get them out of the pond soon those buds will just die.  Mine tend to bloom longer and yes stay open later in the day also.  I do however have some hardy buds still coming up, but they better hurry as it's getting cold here.
