Hollywood & Vine
« on: October 17, 2008, 03:18:24 PM »
Our neighbor owns a magic shop on Hollywood Blvd and we paid him a visit today so that I could get several super-simple magic tricks to entertain our grandson once he gets a tad bit older.  Here we are approaching downtown L.A.

Yep.  No mistaking it.  This is definitely L.A.....  ::)

On Hollywood Blvd

The Walk of Fame......

Here's just a small sampling of the many stars.....

On a side street just off Hollywood Blvd they were filming a scene for the TV series Monk.  Normally they shoot this in San Francisco but for whatever reason they were down here for this scene.

The fetching Mrs. Mikey kneeling behind a "Monk" cone....

I believe this is the actor who plays Captain Stottlemeyer in the series.

Well that's it.  I hope you enjoyed your little trip down to Hollywood Blvd.....

You sure got some nice shots of L.A. and Hollywood!  Who is Pat Buttram?

Do you ever wonder why taggers don't get real jobs in studios or paint companies for their talent in spray paint?  It quite a conundrum for me.  :D

Its probably got something to do with hiring known felons or if you have been arrested for anything in the past 3 years category of the application. It might also have to do with the fact that they never actually applied for a job.

My taxman used to be on the 7th floor, southeast corner of Hollywood and Vine. I took that as a sign of aging -  when I first got to town I would head down there to play, then suddenly you find yourself there, in a suit, with a satchel of papers, and think, "Whoa, what happened here . . . "

Great pics Mikey - love it or hate it, I always find it interesting to say the least. Guaranteed to see something that will cause you to think "Now there is something you don't see everyday", or "It's amazing what you see when you don't have a gun"

I have to second Annette - who is Pat Buttram?

Cheers,

Mike

Ah... my old stomping grounds.  (((sigh))).

I miss the mountains and the creatively wierd people.  But nowadays, every time I go back for a visit, I keep wondering what happened to all the **space**?  You don't really realize how cramped Los Angeles is until you've spent a few years living with **space**.

And yeah... I miss it. Especially the sunsets as viewed from Malibu!!!!  :)

Sigh....old stomping grounds; long long ago.  Geez I miss California - especially the beach.  What I wouldn't give to be watching the sunset from the Seal Beach pier right about now...   :'(

Jerry got it right.  Pat Buttram was Mr. Haney on Green Acres and also a sidekick of Gene Autry.  I believe he drove an old jeep, NellieBelle, in Gene Autry's cowboy movies....  Pat had the voice that always cracked as if he was still going through puberty...  ;D  That's Pat below....

Jerry:  Your star must have been on the other side of the street.  I'll look for it next time...  {:-P;;

Steve: That small cone marked "Monk" was something the set people put on the sidewalk as a barrier.  A couple of security officers as well as a LAPD motor officer were providing security to keep people out.  Actually just looking at the weird people hanging about was more entertaining than the movie set...  The area was actually pretty clean since the last time I was there.  I only saw one 5150 (crazy) person who was talking to himself.....or perhaps God....but he was harmless and I saw only one person acting a fool.  I had one person beg for money and we ignored him.  I saw one attempt drug sale but people walking by ignored him.  No drunks......  Not bad for Hollywood Blvd...  :D ;D

How nice to be able to see some of what I missed.  My DD and SIL took me there for a short drive through and walk, never saw the "Walk of the Stars", only a few shops they wanted to hit.  But I did get to see the big Hollywood sign.  Doubt I'll ever get back that way again.  Thanks for shareing

How he is elected I don't know.  A former gang member who took the bar exam 4 times!  Never did pass!  My son passed first time.
As far as his office goes, he does next to zero, but sure takes good photos.
Sleeping with News woman Maria Salinas seems ok, At least Mrs Villagrosa had the brains to divorce him.
Im sure he regrets supporting Hillary. His federal job aspiratios went doen the tube.

Tony V. is an interesting person.   Goes to show that anyone can become mayor of L.A.  He was an activist student with MEChA when at UCLA.  MEChA  (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan or Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan) is a far-left separatist movement interested in among other things to regain the "lost territories" of the southwestern U.S. in a country named Aztlan.  Remember the flag incidents a couple years back in which high school students hoisted the flag of Mexico up the pole with the American flag hung upside down below?  That's the type of patriotism tha MEChA instills in our youth.  Many high school campuses have MECha clubs.  MEChA does some good things as well.....but not many....   Tony V's policies would indicate that Aztlan is still his goal.  It’s too bad he got caught schtooping the Telemundo reporter while on the clock….  At least that was keeping him busy so that he was not making bad decisions down at city hall…..

We have a friend who knows people who live in the Apartment bldg that Ms Salinas did.
All elderly women except for the hot babe Salinas.  They laughed when he would walked up the walk with flowers.  There could only be one recipient! {nono} {nono}
Aztlan is virulently anti Semitic as well as anti other groups.
