Insect or mold?
« on: October 12, 2008, 07:27:33 AM »
Is this insect damage or mold? Or something else?  I have ruled out spray from a water fountain as I thought that was what it was initially and moved the young plants somewhere else where they could not get sprayed but this is still happening. And it seems to have spread to other plants that were not affected before.

They start as a discolored pale circular spots on the pad and then become  circular holes.  Affects both new and old pads.
My next female cat will be called "Whata Lily"!

Yep, happened to me too this summer.  Not sure what caused mine but I did find a few caterpillars around.  They came and went though.

EEEEK  :o Fungus Among Us!

Happens to me every year. Pick off the pads as soon as it appears to control it's spread.

Thanks for the answers.  I was out of town for a week and this fungus problem got out of hand when i got back.  It was disheartening to have to pinch off all the affected new leaves when there are only so few of them newly growing.  I am also battling string algae in the larger kiddie pool which I am wondering if was the cause of killing two of my lilies....ie strangling them to death.  I have noticed that my dwarf parrots feather cuttings that I transfered to this pool are also struggling due to the string algae, they don't do as well here as they do in another tub free of string algae.
My next female cat will be called "Whata Lily"!
