Stainless Steel appliances
« on: November 23, 2008, 07:21:22 PM »
They look great, when clean that is.  They are hard to keep clean but my bigest problem is I didn't know that you could scratch them.  I cleaned my cooktop one day with a scrubby after making lasgna and scratched it  >:(- >:(-.  Does anyone know how I could buff out the scratches.  Plus there is water spots on my dishwasher don't know how that happened) and they won't come off.  I have bought all kinds of cleaners and things that claim to make them look good but none of them do.  Please if anyone knows how to fix this tell me  :'( :'(.
The irony of life is that, by the time you're old enough to know your way around, you're not going anywhere

CLR should take care of the water spots. There are special stainless steel polishes and cleaners but I would go to the manufacturer and ask them. In fact it seems like you should have that info in your manuals.

DH is a plumber and lately has been mentioning that in the houses around here they aren't putting stainless steel appliances in any more. It's on the way out already.

I just stick to my white ones.  I looked at the stainless, but I could also see all the fingerprints where people had looked at them.  I said no thank you, with 3 kids and a dh.  Yes, I have to wipe the white frequently for dirty prints.  But it doesn't show when they have clean hands, didn't matter on the stainless.

I don't have any problem's with my Stainless Steel appliances .
I've had white one's & cream colored one's . Wanted to try something diffrent
this time .
I use a spray on cleaner...cannot think of the name of it right not .,,....it's upstairs &
I'm just too lazy to go & see what's it's called  ;D
Don't know what you can do for the scratch ..... Maybe someone else will know or
you could call the manufacturer .

Ask if you can try a buffing compound, like they use to detail cars.

Again I'd call the manufacturer because there may be a surface sealant on them. You wouldn't want to try something and then find out you have made a bigger mess than what you already have.
