We did several years ago.  Loved them, just got tired of messing with them so much.  Got into ponds, and lost interest in them.

Ponds are like patato chips, ya just can't have one.

I have African cichlids, and used to raise them extensively.

I used to do cichlids, but after a while, I got tired of the constant mean-ness.
Got rid of all but angelfish (which are cichlids), and then they got mean too since the others were gone and they decided to get mean, so traded them back in for 2 neon blue gouramis and 2 neon coral gouramis. (dwarfs)
Which are mean, but only to each other.  8)
Now the entire tank is community fish, some on the aggressive side, but not bad.
No one goes missing anymore. ::) {nono} :o

I did until we moved into this house 5 years ago.  Then I got into ponds, which is alot more enjoyable, less maintenance, and I can spend more time outdoors enjoying it.

I love Angelfish but have not had the best success keeping them. They grow up and then they kill each other. I haven't had any for several years. I think they are so pretty.

Pondman,   Love Peanut in your bio! ;D

Thank you. My wife and I watched two of Jeff Duham's videos on Christmas Day at a friend's house. We fell in love with Peanut ourselves.
Happy ponding,

I agree with Joyce.  Cichlids are very territorial.  I had a couple and they died once the weather dropped.  My koi would stay away from them.

I had them in a beautiful, handmade oak aquarium I was given, complete with big chiclids.. they were mean but very interesting fish to watch, they would charge each other from opposite ends of the tank.

Where they were older when I inherited them,  I couldnd even add new chiclids they would kill them.  Fish store told me they needed to start in a tank together.  I got some snails that I loved.. never thought about them hurting them and I keep hearing these pecks/pings on the side of the tank.. they were punting the snails into the glass.   took them all of a day to kill all the snails.
