At first, Make a Wish was going to send the family to Disney in Florida but when it became apparent his health wouldn't hold up for a trip, they said to find something local or at home. Seeing someone had brought in a Wii about two months to the hospital and he and his siblings had played it, Kevin and Dawn decided to ask for one. Make a Wish said they could choose up to $1000 worth of games, a flat screen TV, and videos. So they chose a TV, some games, a wheel (for car or cow racing), two "senders" and a receiver. When MAW arrived two weeks ago today, they had a better TV than Kevin had picked out, more games, videos, and gifts for the other two kids + a wonderful dinner. We think this gift was better than the trip for two reasons, one is that this is a lasting thing that will give the whole family joy for a long time and the other is that because they didn't take the trip, it leaves more money for another kid to get their wish. Maybe I ought to bake some cookies for the firemen.
