Last year i cleaned out two of my pots to send in a trade.  They wre returned from the post office and had been smashed by a truck .  i planted all the smushed pieces in a pot and let it go. it grew okay  but never bloomed so I am was digging it out today to move a lilly and i was surprised at the tubers that there could be that many in there in just one season when it was in such horrid shape when it went in.

I am wanting some of the lotus people to help me determine what is actually viable tubers.  I Have many that have one huge tuber, maybe 3 to 4 growing tips but seems i read someone it needed two tuber sections???? the first picture below is a good example of one.. is it viable??  It appears to just have one tuber but maybe a very small one out of one of the other tips.  Another question... i have lots of long skinny ????tubers or maybe runners with many tips.. are those viable.. how do you know if its just a runner or a tuber...

Thanks in advnace for any help.

They look fine to me.
One tuber is enough, even with one growing tip.
The tuber itself can not be broken, or the growing tip.
Tubers will be fat like bananas.
The runners have a 50/50 chance, depending on how 'fat' they are.
I sent a mess of runners to a friend and about 50% made it.
Peace to all  ... Joyce

Love your photos of the tubers especially the mother-load one!  You must have the lotus touch to be able to have an abused lotus grow so many pups!
