Went Shopping ....
« on: March 14, 2009, 05:22:23 PM »
Last night we drove to the Xmas Tree Shops in Deer Park, which is over an hour away from us but the only CTS on LI.  ::)
Finally found the barrels that Sadia posted at Koiphen.  O0
(Had my friend in NJ looking in all the CTSs there, with no luck)
Bought 2, and sheesh, are these big heavy pots...NOT cheap crap! 8)

Then today, went to Agway and wheeled and dealed (been wearing the owner down all week) these 2 metal planter liners as 2 for 1 because they were left over from last year, dented and rusty.
I will NOT be using them as liners, but doing a rust treatment on them and using as it for my 2 new Musa 'Truly Tiny' which were a BD gift from Sonny.  These are some kind of metal, tin?  :-\
And slightly rectangular but taller than wide.

Will be planting annuals and tropicals around the base of the bananas.

And then we went to HD and I had to bring the Dendrobium home...no tag.
Color taken in natural light, no flash.

And a mini phal I found at another ma and pa type garden center about 12" tall. (natural light, no flash)

Closeup... (natural light, no flash)

And my Myers Lemon, in bloom... smells SO GOOD! (natural light, no flash)
(natural light, no flash)

And in fruit...(natural light, no flash)

Those planters are a great find!
I love the smell of orange blossoms. They don't have a perfume that catches it. This time of year!!!! I think its an aphrodisiac.  :o

The noname green dendrobium is spectacular! :)

I wish I could find those barrels around here, so far no luck.  Going to a big plant place in a couple of weeks and will have my eyes out for more orchids....I should be looking for outside plants but I know they will have orchids there.  I end up spending waaaaaayyyyy more than I intended, but you're supposed to, right?  :D  Plus we'll have to do lunch to...

Love the pics, they are great.  Can you actually use/eat the lemon Joyce?  And where do you grow it in your house where it gets enough light?

Love the planters.  I'm sure the bananas will be very happy in them.  O0  Our Satsuma is blooming now too.  Nothing is as sweet as citrus blossoms.   o(:-)
