They're Ranchu.  Were bred as Top View Ranchu.  I'm anxious to see how they develop.   o(

Kay, the pond is about 1400 gallons.  Got a bead filter and a uv that I run sometimes.

Ohhhhhhhhh, I love that long finned yellow one, I would love one that color.  DH is crazy for the long fins, so we have been weeding out all the short fins over the years, but the genetics are still there and every year we get more.

Thanks everyone.

The long-finned yellow comet used to be red and white.  I was actually disappointed to see it lose it's color but has turned out to be very pretty anyway.

Are the new ranchus going in the same pond in the photos?  You got me and my DD started with the fancies in my lily pond.   :D  I showed her your new additions and now she wants some too.   O0  I think we saw these fish in Hong Kong on our last trip.  They are so cute.

What beautiful red fish - and CLEAR WATER!

I love those stumpy ranchus.  Hmmm... something for the "I wanna" list.

They say that Ranchu don't like deep water.  Around 18 - 24 inches is the deepest so they will not be going in the big pond.  I wouldn't be surprised if you saw some Top View Ranchu in Hong Kong either.  They are very popular in Asia.  And, yes, they are really cute.  Especially at this stage.  Very active and unafraid.  I'm really enjoying them.

I know we saw a great variety of goldies/fancies in HK but this is one shot I found that may be similar to your ranchos.  Do you think they are the same?

Those are certainly Ranchu Annette.   O0  Ranchu are divided into two categories though: Top-view and Side-view.  Whether or not they are Top View Ranchu (TVR) I can't say for sure.  Whichever they are they sure are pretty.   o(:-)
