Composted Manure vs Compost & cow manure
«
on:

I used the compost and cow manure before I saw all the discussion on this subject. My question is should I try to gently re-pot the lotus in new composted Manure. Two of the sprouts have made leaves about 3 to 4 inches on thin stems, but are arial. Now it is producing small 1 inch leaves that just float. I have had some stems turn brown and die off in the beginning.. What would you do......
Tink, these are the lotus from you, I don't want to kill them.
Thanks for any advice, Celia

Just my humble opinion.... I also used compost with cow manure. It didn't smell 'poopy' at all. I, however, am not putting them into the pond. If you're doing containers, don't worry about it. The worst you'll have is a little green water. Other opinions?

Thanks Katfish, it is in a container, not going into pond. I didn't smell anything either, but got worried about it, thinking that was stunting the growth. We havn't had warm weather until last few days, so that may be the biggest problem.

Sounds like the weather needs to warm up a little.

Yep, Joyce is right. It's the weather. I'm zone 5 as well, and mine are going, but slooooow. Give them a few weeks and stand back!
