My first lily bloom wasn't a water lily. It was spatterdock. It sat in a shallow trough for two years looking awful and this year, I decided to put it back in with the lilies. It grew quickly and bloomed twice. The first bud did not make it though. :( It had been placed in the shallow trough after the introduction of koi into the pond. The koi just about wiped them out. I thought that they did wipe out my Chromatella but I've been repotting all my water lilies and I see pads that look like Chromatella. I know that I still have N. mexicana. I've already divided the first pot and will do the other one tomorrow or Thursday. I'm rambling now. :)
Happy ponding,
Scott o(

If you think that your question is dumb, imagine how totally stupid you will look if you don't ask it.

I love spatterdock. It's gorgeous. I wish I had some. I first saw it growing wild in an almost alpine-level lake in Wyoming.

Missy, I gathered some seeds while I was out digging other plants. I forgot about them until the pod dried up and now I'm soaking some to see if they will sprout. If they do, I could send you some if you want. :)
Happy ponding,

It is pretty. So far we only have a few buds up, very late for us.
