The Pond is really cold
« on: October 31, 2006, 05:32:42 PM »
Trick or Treating ended at 7:00pm here, so turned off the outside lights and was going to go down to Ace to get some bolts for my garage door that I'm working on.
It's been dark for several hours now, and I have two ponds along the walkway to the driveway. I parked out back, in the driveway, not in the garage, because I'm woriking on the door.
From the side garage door to the driveway is a curved path. Now when walking on this path in the DARK, one must guess at the exact curve of the path, because both ponds are imidiately on the right side. {:-P;;
I MISCALCULATED :no: {nono}
Ended up in the fountain pond. It's amazing how fast one can remove cold wet clothes.
I made an executive decision, that I really didn't need to go to Ace after all.
I'll just sit by the fire and warm up. And have another glass of wine O0
Don't ya just wish you could have a pic of that? @O@

Um, that doesn't sound like much fun. . . . well, at least up until the glass of wine by the fire.  Think I'll join you for that . . . . .

Glad you didn't hurt yourself.

Almost sounds like the beginning of a commercial - "Help, I've fallen and I can't reach my wine".

Introducing the the first in-pond bar, for those bad nights when you will be trapped until morning. The deluxe model could have some cheese and crackers handy, - but wait, there's more! If you call in the next ten minutes, we'll include a cable ready TV set.

Enjoy the fire Steve!

Cheers,

Mike

Some years back, I did fall throught the ice in the late winter. On a backwater of the Wisconsin river. By myself, 9' of water, and the world fell out from under me.  :o
To make a long story short, I got out, crawled to safe ice and got to the truck, electronic starting device, very wet, and not working. The key opened the door and sat with the alarm going off for quite a while. Cars going by. ?)(? :o Finally got the thing dried out and got back home. A hot shower felt great O0 O0
My buddy was worried that he was going to get my ice fishing stuff {nono} @O@ lol

Are you sure that the wine wasn't a contributing factor to the plunge {:-P;; lol

Whoops! Hope you're ok! I'm thinking lighting would be a good addition to the pond areas next year  ;)

You may want to think about one of those dusk to dawn lights to put back by your pond.

Had this happened to you here it would have been fine.  The pond is frozen over quite solid these days!

Sorry, Steve, just had to laugh.

Really though, y'all should see that nice fountain of Steve's!  o(:-) Niiiice.

Ace Hardware can wait. A fire and some wine is far more important. ;)

1500 gallon pond. Most residents are 11 yrs old. Most are Koi, with one 9 yr old bullhead catfish. Residents took a trip of one hr to their new home. We all moved to this home just over a yr ago. They love their new digs!

My son has been bugging me to get lights for the path for several years now.
It will now be done. Some low light, solar lights.

This morning the ponds are frozen over.
