Cool pic...
Check out this one I saw when I came into town last week.
This is N. Tanglewood Blue.
This was at least the 3rd bloom on the plant this year but the only one to form like this.
The sepals were at least 2 inches below the flower.

Kind of weird.

That is weird.  There is no sign of the pod between the sepals and the lowest petals. seems to indicate that the sepals really are a part of the stem and not a part of the pod like the petals are.

Barbara Dobbins does vip flowers. Is your cross with that lily? If so it might be the answer. There are other vip hardy lilies too.

I've had Siamese twins before on a hardy that I bought from Wal-Mart. The stems were joined from the tuber up.

Neat! Here is one of my star of zanzibar plants. It only occured on the very first bloom. The rest are normal.
