I have them here, and they eat a LOT of plants. Even my palms on occasion. They do like soft leaf plants, but will eat most anything. Have a few eating my moss right now. Now when I see them, they go on the relocation program. Outside my patio.  ;)

A few are fine but when they multiply too quickly, the turtles get a crunchy treat.  :P

That looks like a garden snail.  A land snail. No real threat to water plants, maybe marginals.
