My backyard blooms, from water to land.
« on: July 11, 2009, 04:49:35 PM »
I have room on my camera again, so I can take lots of pics again.  Don't focus in on the weeds and crabgrass growing...lol, anytime I have a day off it rains.  My part time job is 39 hours a week.  I won't complain because dh just gets letters turing him down instead of a phone call with a start date.  So, I've had to neglect alot of backyard things this year, but its alright.

Baby Doll Lotus, she's the happiest that she has ever been since I put her down in that little puddle.  She's huge, and blooming/budding like crazy this year. (she's the one with the yellow building behind her)

Few more, little rose bushes that neighbors down the road were going to throw away.   {nono} Couldn't let that happen, with a start of something for them to climb on.  Hope to get it finished one day.  I want it to be something they can climb on, and hang bird feeders on too.

VERY nice indeed!

I am in zone 6A here also - how do you overwinter your lotus?  I am thinking of growing some next year.

I take the lotus, and cut them down in the fall.  Throw a piece of plywood over the pots.  Then I would take all the bagged up banana's tree leaves, or reg. leaves that I had asked the neighbors for and put on top of that.  That's all.  This is their 3rd year in the pots stuck in the ground.

My baby doll is really doing well this year also.  I also have wintered mine over justlike you for 3 or maybe this is the 4th year.  Havent lost a lotus.  When I take the bags of leaves off mine, The green floating stuff has never really died under there.

Very nice Kim.....lucky you blooms on your lotus, boy I barely have pads on the lotus in the lily pond .....the ones in the new lotus pond are doing better and the one in the pot is the best, but no where near blooms.
