Dauben Vivip
« on: July 17, 2009, 01:53:15 PM »
Well this is the vivip, I've got from my friend Robie, and I got some leaves to produce some more.
Kat am I doing this baggie, water & vivip thing all right..since I do not remember where it was posted but what I do remember was that I had to placed the leaf into the bag and then put water and then place it in the container.
Am I doing it right?

Howell, I am wondering if you mean Dauben? Or is Duben another tropical?

Looks good to me...looks like you already grew them big enough to plant in the dixie cups.  I grew out my first couple of Blink Vivips this year, and was able to send a couple grown out young plants to another member for a trade.  Its a lot of fun!  :D

My next female cat will be called "Whata Lily"!

If you can get yourself some of those zip sealing bags so you can blow air into it (so it is like a greenhouse), it would do much better.  Change out the water with aged pond water every other day or daily because the decaying pad will muck up the bag water quickly.  Also, instead of gravel use sand with a pinch of fertilizer or regular soil for the potted vivips.  Another thing you might want to try is small pots with holes instead of the cups if you aren't having a lot of success.  Good luck.

I am so going to get those ziplock bags tomorrow, and yeah I am using those dixie cups by now since I am going to take this down to monclova while I'm in saltillo.
But I will do anything you've told me to, now.
Thanks Kat it is good to hear from the greatest tropical grower I've ever known.
