Nymphaea 'King of Siam'?
« on: December 21, 2009, 10:33:56 AM »
I received a few tubers from a friend, who simply said "I think you may find colorata, 'Midnight' and 'King of Siam' in there..."

This is the first one that bloomed. And it certainly looks like a 'King of Siam'. Can anyone that has seen the real plant confirm it? The last picture is the one with the color closest to the actual one.

The King of Siam that I have is a little more purple in color - but that could be my monitor.
Also, in its third year, the edges of the leaves tend to curl up and out of the water a little. Makes a really frilly cluster of pads.
Its a favorite in my pond. :)

If yours is a King of Siam, let it grow, and enjoy it as it gets more mature. :)  o(:-)

Thanks Sunbeam. The plant is only 2 months old, grown from tuber.

Yes, that is KOS, I had a few of the originals imported from Thailand from Rich Sacher when I visited and stayed with him a few years ago. It is a prolific tuber producer in warm climes, you should be able to enjoy it for many years.

Cheers,

Thanks Sean. Rich also confirmed that it's KoS.

Merry Christmas!
