I finally came up with a trickle tower.
« on: June 15, 2009, 10:45:58 AM »
Got this cool vase/pot thingy at a local nursery.  It already had a hole drilled in the bottom of it.  I turned it over, set it on a rubbermaid bin and ran the pump tubing through it.  Filled it up with white rocks and there ya go!

Me enjoying my pond on my birthday.  My husband and kids got me the cement bench as a gift, along with the blue "trickle tower"

The pond at night with the underwater light.  It had a green cover over the light.  The water is actually pretty clear.

Very classy! I like it!  O0

You could probably plop a dwarf papyrus in there and make it a combo trickle and veggie filter.  8)

Very nice birthday gifts!!  Happy Birthday!  The vase design is a great idea for a trickle tower fountain in your pond  O0

That blue is very pretty. Suppose the white rocks won't stay that way very long. Do you have a filter on the water before the pump or does the pump sit in a filter of sorts? The idea is to keep the gunk from having to go through the pump.

I had a trickle tower for a couple of summers. It was a strawberry jar that was filled with lava rock. It worked very well.

great added filtration!  Love the blue color...  O0

but it's not really a true trickle tower.  Trickle tower the water goes down through the rock and the rock is not submerged in the water allowing for lots of O2 to infiltrate the water and help feed the bio that forms on the rocks.

I LIKE what you have though!!  It's really much prettier than most trickle towers I've seen and it will add some good bio filtration
