I'm on the mend now and my mind has cleared from all the pain meds and the pain. It was a very strange feeling. I am confident that I've found a good dentist now and I'll be fine. I've got a problem mouth, that is for sure. Plus, I'm rather resistant to novocaine or whatever they use to numb things. I went to this dentist because it was sort of an emergency and my regular dentist is 4 hours away. He had done work on some friends and they were happy, I should have realized they are British and the Brits aren't known for great dentistry

Howell, you should get a kick out of this. My Spanish comprehension kind of went out the window with the pain and the meds. The dentist kept telling me the tooth was flojo which means lazy but what I didn't know is that it also means loose. I could not figure out why I had a lazy tooth. It was all kind of mooshy really, I had a hard time understanding English too, I would suddenly realize that Mimi was speaking to me in English and I should really try and understand. Odd.

Anyway, I will keep checking in here. The people are great and I think I'll just stay away from the touchy subjects.

ps. the profile pic is really me. I thought it would be nice to show my face when I'm speaking and be more personal. It's not a great face but I'm used to it. Sorry about the shades, the sun is bright down here

LOLOL Jonna. That was funny. I'm sure if it was me, there would have been much more problem with communication. I mean it was funny about the tooth.

Sure can sympathize about teeth. Just had one pulled about two weeks ago and am waiting for the partial plate to come in and be fitted.

Thanks guys. I'm much better, had another appt with the new dentist today along with my panorama xray. He gave me the address the other day and told me to go and get one of those entire jaw xrays. I did and the cost was $150 pesos - which at todays exchange rate is $11.63!! Can't beat that. So, me and my xray went to the dentist along with the 2 crowns the other guys had pulled off around the bad tooth. Unfortunately they had cracked both of them

and also broken off part of the tooth that was holding one of them. So, now I need 3 crowns and two of them will need a post

This dentist still won't mess with it, he wants all of the infection gone and the swelling too. I like that. So, I go back in 2 weeks. BTW, this new dentist still has not charged me anything, every time I ask he says no wait until we start the work.

I've had several emails from friends here and talked to my internist again about this dentist and he is a very well respected oral surgeon so I feel I'm finally in the right place. I tell my friends to let me try out all the dentists first because I have such a bad mouth that I'm the ultimate test of skill.

and only on one side. So far that is working. I got a really nice skirt steak at CostCo this afternoon and marinaded it and we BBQ'd it and I carefully chewed only on one side. It worked just fine! A little merlot and it went down really well

I had jello for dessert though, I always want jello when I am sick or there is something wrong with me. My mom used to make me hot jello when I had a cold and now I just feel better after having some jello. Weird. I had this jello cold though, and with cream on it

I learned how to make flan and loved it..but coach said I had to lay off the sugar sometime and now I can not eait it... :'( :'(
BTW I am a sugar lover...

..have you tried the ice cream cake they sell at DQ?

My friend who had her face and jaw stomped on by the police horse, she has not chewed a THING since June 26. Still needs many MANY more visits and surgeries, before she gets her first steak.

That is so sad, I'm sorry she still can't eat. You do start craving things with texture when you can only have liquids.

We don't have any DQ down here that I've seen. I've seen them in other states but not here yet. We do have a Baskin Robbins and I went in there once but the service was so horrible and the ice cream was just so so. I love the paletas here and the Michoacana ice cream. The flavors are better, especially the fruit ones.

I have an ice cream maker as well and I've been experimenting with it, I made some fresh coconut ice cream the other day and it is really good!

yeah, it's really rich. I used fresh coconut and toasted it + crema de coco and coco water - oh, and thick cream and eggs

that's why it was so rich.

I love mango, melon, pistachio, horchata, banana, watermelon and some other non common ice-cream flavors.
BTW we just ate brownie with ice-cream topping it...it was napolitan ice-cream.
