Tobago Red
« on: September 10, 2009, 04:00:07 PM »
It is always a pleasure to visit Kit and Ben Knotts and the added company of Rich Sacher, Dave and Davia Brigante from Hughes Water Garden and Carlos Magdalena from RHS's Kew Gardens in the UK made it even more enjoyable.

Problem was....too much plant talk and not enough time to take many photos....though I think Kit will have more on the WGI list.

But I did get a picture of a nightbloomer collected from a pond in on the island of Tobago that is huge and beautiful, a picture of an immutabilis, as I promised for Quentin and finally a picture of the guest of honor,Carlos with our host Kit and my wife Darcy,

Thanks for the picture of the immutabilis Craig.

The color is much deeper but it looks like it could have been the seed parent of my lily.
We just need to find out if it was also the pollen parent.

I think Ken Landon said that some Anecphya lilies will produce seedlings that are white or pale blue even if the parent plant was another color.

I can't find that information anywhere right now but perhaps Timgod could ask him whether that was true in his experience.

Hi Craig, thats a great red. how does the red compare to charlie's pride. charlie's pride is giving me the most vivid red in the cool weather.

Gorgeous red lily!  Maybe you should send one of those to Fernando!   Nice to see the ponders as well.

Saw this "pow wow" mentioned in Kit's email to WGI members yesterday.  Sounds like all had a great time, and the smiles in the last photo confirm that.   O0

It was an incredible day, but sorry Howell, I don't have a 'Tabago Red'...yet.<g>

And Darcy sends her greetings.  It was a shame we weren't in Atlanta long enough yesterday for a get-together.  Even with what looked to be some crappy weather you were having, the transit went smoothly and rather than being delayed, we actually departed a few minutes early.

We've been having some seriously crappy weather here - they've actually closed school districts in the metro area because of flooding.  If it doesn't quit raining soon, I'm going to have to enlist some help in building a nice ark!
