Plants for Postage
« on: September 26, 2009, 04:20:51 PM »
Hi guys, I have to check and see how much I have of each to share, but I have extra of:
4 leaf clover
Violet stem taro
Imperial taro
Diamond Head taro
Floating Hearts
maybe Corkscrew rush
I'll look to see what else I may have.... I love sharing, plus I have limited space to over-winter my tropicals.  This way even if I manage to kill all of mine, maybe someone will have some to share come spring  lol  Let me know if anyone is interested!  BTW, I have no idea how much the different plants would ship for, so bear with me!  I think some would be too big for the flat rate boxes, but maybe I can get some advise if anyone wants any plants  O0

Katfish, I see you are in Ohio.................do the 4 leaf clover and the Floating Hearts make it through your cold winters outdoors or do you bring them in?

About the hardiness, I'd have to look it up.  I had planned to sink a large pot of the floating hearts (since it's a lily-like plant) and bring some in like I did last year.  The clover is new to me, and I'd planned to bring it in.  I will see what size box I need to ship in and let you guys know how much, ok?

Ok, I looked it up:  the floating hearts are listed as 'hardy' so I assume they'll make it outside for me this year treated as a lily.  The clover is not hardy for me: zone 6 and up.

If you don't mind, I'd like some of the taro.  Any type you have left.  I'm in zone 9, so I believe they'll be alright.  I'll send you some tropicals next season.  PM me.

Ok, guys...  I should have enough for everyone  @O@  I'll just have to run by the post office to get some boxes and send some PM's.  I'll try to take care of it tonight, but give me until Wednesday by latest, ok?  My school schedule is hard to work around.  You'll hear from me soon!   o(:-)

Ok, I had to get all the plants out of the pond (was that my back creaking I heard?) so I could tell what could fit in which box.  So far it looks like the smallest box I can get the taro's in is the large size.  That one is $15 I think (I was just there and it already fell out of my head  ::) )  If you want floaters only, depending on what you want I can stuff a small or medium box ($5 and $11 I believe) along with some smaller plants.  I have to do the dividing yet, so I may be able to pull off a few teeny pieces of taro for the smaller boxes.  I would like if I could ask for $5 for the plants (all I can stuff) plus postage.  If that's fair?  Anyway, anyone interested please pm me with requests, and I'll confirm and let you know how much, ok?  Thanks!

Ok, I got a couple pm's (I'll be sure to reply individually later).  I will get the plants divided and let you know what's left after those are filled if anyone else is interested!  Thanks everyone - oh, today's my long day (school til 9) so I may not be able to get to the plants again until tomorrow - sorry I'm so slow guys  {nono} but I will not forget you all!  I hope to ship on Monday so that no plants sit over the weekend at the PO.

Anyone else interested, I have a couple DH taro left.  I can add in a few little treats with it, but everything else is gone.  If no one else asks, I'll just stuff a few more into the boxes already ordered  @O@  Oh, and for those of you who did order, unless you object and specify you just want one plant, I'll try to pop in a few goodies to fill in the box.  If you don't want me to, let me know and I won't  O0  Last call is Sunday as I'll ship Monday after work.  Thanks, guys - I hope you love your plants.

I just found my box of goodies at my front door.  After opening the box I quickly got all the generous cuttings of taros and hearts into my temp pot until I can pot them up properly.  Everything arrived just fine.  Thank you KatFish!   Sending you :2thumbs: feedback!

Great!  I was worried about the shipping!  I'm a novice at sending plants and a worry-wart, so that makes me happy  @O@  I hope they grow well for you.

Katfish, I received my 4 leaf clover plants today and have potted them up and they are sitting looking lovely in my pond  ;D. The post office must have ran over the poor box w/ a mack truck tho.......it was all squished on one end but the plants didn't seem to mind a bit  @O@. Thanks and I'll send you some good feedback right now  O0.

Oh, I'm so sorry they arrived in that condition!  If the plants don't survive, let me know.  They are pretty hardy, but I'd feel terrible if they died on you.  I hope they thrive!

Oh please don't worry its not your fault............it was the P.O's fault. They prolly put it under some heavy boxes or sat on it or something  lol. The plants are doing just fine and look very nice with their little heads floating above the water  ;D.
