I built a mud pond just prior to my koi spawning on May 23rd and 24th. I added eggs to my new pond on those dates only. As the summer went along I noticed a great difference in the size of the young fish. Presently they are still feeding at around 60 degrees water temp. My question is why is there such a large difference in size? A few are 6 inches long and almost (estimate) a quarter pound. Most are 1 1/2 to 2 inches long. Many are small, barely 1 inch. All appear to be feeding and healthy. I'm guessing some of the eggs fell to the deeper and cooler portions of the shallow pond last spring and got a slower start?? The pond is 2 to 4 1/2 foot deep and 35ft by 70 ft. John B
