Volunteers of America

I recycle the soil left from dumping my lily pots and use it to fill in the lotus ponds when I re-do them.  I figure that way I get to reuse it without the risk of confusing lilies with seedlings and it sure beats dead heading all the blooms.<g>

Get some nicer ones, but don' recall ever getting a keeper from a lotus pond.

Mercy, how could there be nicer ones?? They are so pretty. I have thought to steal some pictures and have them printed on picture paper, frame them and hang a whole slew of them on my pond themed bathroom wall.

Those are sooo beautiful--no colors like that around here and for many months to come... :-\

I take the stuff and add it to my compost pile.  Seems fine.

What's that blue one, with the purple at the base of the petals?

All are very pretty.

None are named Julles, they are just stray seedlings that popped up in the lotus ponds.  I like to use 'fresh' soil in the lily pots, Jerry.  I don't like seedlings coming up in the pots of named lilies if I can avoid it.

Well I would keep them all!  But then I am not a breeder, just an admirer.  They're all very pretty.

Lovely volunteers! I would be happy to find pretty volunteers like them in our pond. Thanks for sharing them with us. I just brought ours in for the winter.

I'm learning to throw out anything that requires too much work.  It ain't easy....

Love your throw aways Craig.  My pond just doesn't do any lilies any justice.  :P
