Hi Tim.

I'm sure it is just me not being a fan of the vivip, but it leaves me cold.

I had a number of vivips appear this year, most likely because I had a number of N. micrantha blooming and a neighbor that is a beekeeper, but if I was going to like one, it would be this one.  I find it prettier than Dauben and to date it hasn't gotten much bigger than a Helvola.  But then again, I have become partial to softer tones in a waterlily flower.

That's pretty Craig . . . is it as shade tolerant as Dauben and Helvola?

Well if you decide to trash can the 000_0283.jpg lily...I would gladly give it a home...

Hi Teresa,

Not being one of my favorites, I haven't paid much attention to it, but suspect it is shade tolerant.  The sun is off the pond it is in by noon this time of year, so at most it is getting four hrs sun now.

The problem is Tim, I really just don't like it and as it stands now I wouldn't want it getting out.  My wife, the patient one, suggests I hold off on any decision concerning its fate until I see it bloom in the peak tropical months of the late summer.

Here is a lily that would rank high on my list for 'Best Blue'.  Beautiful shade of  blue flowers and large round pads that grow tightly around the center.  Very good bloomer, sets tubers well, but seems to be sterile.

I agree on Laura Frase being ranked as best blue O0

I just fear that there are already knockoffs on the market. I have seen several that are lavender but being labeled as LF. More greedy people selling knockoffs I guess. I'd sure love to get ahold of the real McCoy.

Cheers,
Sean

Hi Sean,

Just let me know when and how to get it to Mike.  I think I have the real deal<g>...my provenance takes it straight back to Mr. Frase.<g>

That's great Craig, thanks so much!

I have seen it at Rich's place and his nursery as well as at Kit and Ben's when we stayed with them. The best blue I have ever seen. I wouldn't care if it is sterile, I just love the plant for what it is.

Cheers,
Sean

Seems late in the year and we haven't been particularly warm, but there were three species liles blooming today....in addition to a couple Aussie species.

N. colorata from West Africa, the local talent of N. ampla ( native to areas in the US), and a parent of all viviparous lilies and wildly vivparous itself....N. micrantha, also from West Africa.
