Unexpected baby moo!

So yeah, I will post photos first thing tomorrow. This computer doesn't permit.

Lucy's daughter, named Peter, had a calf LAST year, but we thought she had missed this year. All the other cows had their babies in the Spring. She wasn't particularly fat. But we have been in a drought. And she doesn't put on a big bag like Lucy does - just adequate for the purpose. We didn't notice anything much.

So today - SURPRISE  @O@ @O@ @O@

We are calling her Ruby. She's white with red tips. Perfect in every way. Hit the ground running - or wobbling to be more accurate. :)

She is precious. :)
Already she has grown and fattened some. And she's full of bounce and wiggles, too.  o(:-)

It will be interesting to see if her red tips stay red, or turn black like her mother.

Yeah, Peter was named by my daughter before we were certain of her gender. The other calf born that night was Tink. So it was the year of the lost boys. Literally - they were all girls.  lol
