I'm irritated with Amazon

I do a lot of my Christmas shopping using Amazon.  To date I had been quite happy with them.  I ordered a Kindle as a Christmas gift for the fetching Mrs. Mikey. UPS delivered it a few minutes ago and because my wife heard the truck pull up she went and retrieved the package. It was marked "Amazon.com.........KINDLE". So much for a surprise on Christmas morning.....

Aw, that's just a bummer...I'm surprised that they had the box marked like that.  Usually this time of year they take things like that into consideration--like they could be GIFTS!!?? I know some places are really considerate of their confirmation emails:  saying that it's a gift and if you didn't order anything from this company, please don't scroll down...makes sense to me..

So true. And it would be such a simple thing to implement! This time of year is so hard nowadays- people do share computers, and I constantly have to monitor my inbox to delete those messages (or hide them) before my hubby sees them. I knew about many past presents before Christmas and it's a bummer.

I love that certain sneakiness this time of year- finding and hiding presents in anticipation is really fun. But I don't want it ruined by the people who are selling them.

Thanks Karen for that phone number of Amazon customer service.  I just called and complained.  The operator was nice and apologized.  He said he would "bring it to their attention"....

I once asked a company to put the product in a plain box without their logo all over it because it was a gift and the person might be here when it arrives.  They did that and sure enough, the package showed up when we got back from the store, so I was glad I suggested that because their packaging would definitely give it away!  But still, they should know better around Christmas time!

I've received large boxes in their original package for all the world to see.  And for those scoping neighborhoods for Christmas cheer any box is a target.  Make sure you can trust your neighbor to receive the packages if you aren't home.

Kindle is a device, relatively thin, that can store many books downloaded on to it.  You can also subscribe to periodicals and download them.  It's a convenient way to store up reading material when traveling.  Last Christmas we were on the train coming back from the PNW and she saw another passenger reading from one and she said she would like to have one some day....
