Can we talk about vacs? Please.....
« on: January 10, 2010, 09:55:59 AM »
So I really want a Pondovac III......I found one at aquatic ponds.com for 298.00 with free shipping.

Is that a good price or should I keep shopping around?  Also, if you think I shouldn't get one...please tell me NOW....thanks!!

I paid 1.00 more and mine was the beat price i ever saw.  I got it from Webb's, one of our sponsors.
One of the plastic handles was busted in shipping.  They promptly replaced the whole unit at no cost to me.
You actually beat my great price by a buck!!
I'd still opt for Webb's, why?  They have a great track record and do support our site!

I will take a few bucks off the next tee shirt you buy!! @O@  I really will as long as you remind me! :)

Well, you drive a hard bargain.  I bought a shirt last year and was thinking of getting another one this year...just for fun!

I just found it on ebay (new) through National Pond Supply for $279.00!!!  free shipping.

However, I really love this site, so I will go with Webb's to help any way I can.....Looks like a great site.

You will never regret getting one !  It has made my life so much easier.  We have two ponds and I keep another one up for a local daycare. Put it this way I can clean my lily pond in less than an hour total. (1350 gallons).

We had a thread a few months back, think it was Jerry who started it, about pond vacs.  Maybe you can find it and get some more info.

yep, you are right about that Jerry.....

So I tell my husband what a great deal I found (some websites wanted $600+ can you believe it?) and he asks...don't we need a bigger pond to have something like that....?  My first thought was to say...why no, of course not...then I came to my senses and said....

oh, uh...well, actually, of course!  @O@

Food for thought when considering a Pondovac. OASE (maker of the Pondovac) is no longer sold in the USA, they pulled the plug and have left the USA for now (just like Cyprio/Hozelock). The only problem that one may have is who will honor the warranty should there be an issue. Nothing against the VAC though, I think they are great, but it is something to consider.  FYI.....Laguna will be introducing a VAC possibly in 2010 in the US, more then likely 2011. This thing is really cool and the price point will be around $325-$350. Another VAC that works pretty good is the MUCK VAC by Matalla as it has a 1700w motor just like the Pondovac. It's almost as good as the Pondovac 3 too.....I sure will miss the Pondovac though!

Great info, thanks.  I did see that in the Pond trade magazine.
I should mention here that AZ Ponds is a popular supplier of many of our members and is highly thought of!

I just received my Pondovac 3.  The instruction manual is a piece of junk.  There is no mention of the large white nylon mesh bag that came with it.  The internal parts of the tank would seeminly prevent use of this mesh bag.

yes the manual stinks.  I had to use a magnifying glass and it was still small. but the pic on the box was enough to get me through.
It does, however work well.

Hi Mikey, I bought it 2 years ago from a local supplier and later I called them to say the same thing abt the inadequate manual and same was quoted in the net by many other users.
The mesh bag is attached to the discharge pipe, in case you need to return the same water back to the pond, it is not so practical but I am really happy with the other functions and quality of it.

Also I use it for the wet cleaning of the carpets but not in house, out in the balcony or garden.

Thanks Tugo, that explains it.  I spent about 5 minutes trying to configure that mesh bag over the internal workings inside the tank and finally gave up and came here to ask....  We have had rain here every day since Monday and I have not had a chance to use the vacuum yet.

Jerry: Thanks Jerry but that won't be necessary now that I know what the mesh bag was for.  I plan to discharge the pond water directly on to the soil

The discharge makes a wonderful nutrient rich fertilizer for garden plants. I noticed the areas where I discharged the waste water had perked up the plants in that area.
