I want to put my filter out of the water....

I know this has been asked a 100 times, but I'm going to ask again.  I've been reading about above the ground filters and since I'm getting too old to lift my homemade submerged one that encases my pump & fountain, I need ideas how to do it.  What I have now are just those black pond boxes lined with heating filter and batting.  My pump is in the midst of the batting and the tubing runs from it, through the box, out to my little turtle fountain.  I don't want to read tons of stuff I don't need to.  Since I've done the entire pond myself (it's app 800 gals & app 9 x 5) I don't want to hire someone but I might have to.  If it's an above ground filter does that mean I can't have my little fountain?

This place brings back some great memories.  It use to be called something else and changed.  I see some familiar names who helped me put together my wonderful backyard, partial-shade pond that has brought Husband & I so much pleasure.

Nice Pond.  I'm not sure if this is what you mean.....  I have my biofilter box above ground and away from my pond.  I have a pump at the bottom of the pond with a pre-filter.  The return water, from filter, falls over a small holding area for my taros and then over a rock ledge and back to the pond.  At another pond the pump has a fountain attachment and an attachment to the biofilter.

Both of my biofilter boxes are higher than the water surface and sits at a height easy for cleaning. There is back bottom spigot for releasing crud from the bottom of filter box into a waiting bucket==>garden plants

Yes.  Thank you.  I think I'm talking about two different things and I'm just going to have to get Husband to lift that thing out for me from now on.

My pond was above ground but my idea would work for yours as well. I had large troughs and stock tanks sit up in series with the top one being my filter. I just turned off the pump and flushed it all out the drain. I used plants as my filter media.
