Very interesting.
It looks fascinated.
I'd like to see pics of other flowers from the same plant to see how they vary and maintain the curly look.
I'd also like to see some vertical cross sections of the flower and pod so that I can better understand what is going on in that very complicated looking carpel disc area.
I would also like to see pictures of the unopened bud.
Is it pod or pollen fertile ?
If it's a genetic trait and not a disease or mechanical damage like from insect attack and is pod or pollen fertile then I would cross it with several good plants, and with it's self if possible. You never know what you might get.
I can imagine a plant with a wildly contorted and distorted carpel disc and abundant stamens that would look like billowing cloud of anthers in the center of the petals. It's hard to imagine containing all of that in a bud, hence the crushed petals, but if you breed for large bud and sepal size you might get the combo of the billowing anthers with large uncrushed petals. That would be something else.
I'm not particular to smushed up looking flowers like Lilypons and some lotus but other people do like them.
Actually I like the smushed up look as long as it's symmetrical and fractal looking.
I like your wide petal blue, very nice.
