Dec 21 2012
« on: February 18, 2010, 07:22:28 PM »
I came across an interesting article about 2012 the othev day when I googled it, and I was just wondering what everyone thought. Close friend says I'm crazy and doesntgive it a second thought... I also watched a documetary recently called collapse, google the trailer... It's interesting. Talked about the decline of the economy and oil and how we've nearly used it all up... Seems like if the world is t going to end from massive solar flares then it will by our lack in oil and such a fierce dependency of it.

Sorry fir the spelling... Typing this from iPhone hehe

My thoughts on the subject cannot be separated from religion and politics........so I will just leave those alone....

With respect to oil, I seem to recall having read of several large oil finds in the last year.  Collapse of the world's economy is a possibility because we are all so interconnected........  Think of dominoes falling.

been hearing about it for last couple of years . don't expect it will go from okay to horrible in a few minutes but rather will get bad progressively as whatever 'heavenly bodies' begin to line up . it's supposed to cause a shift in earths core and magnetic poles . don't care to see it but it will be good to expire . . .peace

I don't think I agree with the oil thing- if an energy company feels that oil is running out, then they'll scramble to invent something else. Technology marches on, without government orders.
If something is going to kill us any time soon, it will either be overpopulation or nukes.

My opinion is much like Mikey's...based on my religious beliefs so I won't go there either because i don't want to get booted off. However...a few years ago my family visited a museum that had a section pertaining to energy of the past and present. They had documented quantities of reserved oil and that number was surprising. According to them, there is plenty to accommodate every person alive today until their death and more. So as far as it being for lack oil, I'm not buying that.

Wasn't the world supposed to end a couple decades ago because of some other catastrophe?  I seem to recall that we go through this every 20 years or so.   Maybe I'm mixing this up with the scare we had with cheeze whiz a few years ago, I don't know... {:-P;;

I think that the safest predictions to make are:  (1) That on the day after 12/21/12 someone will come up with a new "crisis"  to worry about; and (2) That a number of people will make money off it. :o

I love that one Argos.  One of my sig files used to be "So many stupid people, so few comets" after that group that killed themselves to go off to the afterlife on a comet.

Most of this latest BS comes from the fact that the long count of the Mayan calendar ends that day.  Since I live down here with the Maya, they are expecting a huge bunch of people to show up at Chichen Itza to watch the world end or whatever.  The real Maya say that what will happen is a new count will begin, a very rare New Years of sorts.

It's all smoke and mirrors like other fantasies people believe, what ever makes you happy I guess.

I don't really know either way. And 12 12 12 will be a birthday for me lol... I did read somewhere that Saudi Arabia was sitting on our worlds largest oil reserve and now they hve turned to offshore drilling which costs like 10x more to do so the q of wut I was reading was why drill offshore and spend more money if you had oil on land, unless that reserve has run out... But ya I remember the 2000 crazies thou this has a little more to it. Did u guys know we are sitting on the top aide of the edge of the milky way and have been... Like when u look at the dark night sky and clearly see the milky way were looking down on it from above, and after 2012 well have finished the forever ago travel to the underside of the mw... Some gnarly gravitational stuff is supposed to go on when we pass through the would be equator line of the milky way, which happens to be that nigh, aaand at that same time Jupiter and Saturn are supposed to be on either ends of our galaxy llined up w the sun which when either planet does that it already causes major solar flare activity so it's supposed to peak that day too. Be interesting to see different side of milky way

Sure, end on a Friday, and it will probably be in the evening after working all day.
Can't end on a Monday, nooo.....gotta end on a Friday.

All I can say is that it better be a pay day, otherwise I'm going to have a crappy weekend the 22 & 23.  lol
