speaking of worms- red ones?
« on: March 01, 2010, 03:10:57 PM »
so i have one mud bottom container like 2 feet wide 8" deep and filled with mud, its where i grow out my tubers, but anywho there are patches of little tiny red wriggling wriggling worms. they are like a brownish red, they dont do anything to the plants, they are just in the mud under the water, i bet i could take a macro pic of them, but theres like hundreds and not very big at all.. not like the midge fly larva bloom worms, smaller. anyone else have em or know what they are

They sell something like that for fish food (live).  When I had a tropical fish aquarium I would buy these tiny red worms by  my the ounce (small condiment container).  My trops loved them!

Michelle, they are probably just blood worms. Maybe just young or stunted. Feed 'em to the fishes.
Happy ponding,

ok i just spent a better part of 45 minutes trying to catch one hehe. and a snap of what they look like in their little colony. ok never mind about the colony... all it looks like with the camera is a fuzzy red blob. but they just halfway poke out of the mud and furiously wriggle... and disappear back into the mud a sudden movements of disturbance.
