Wild Flowers
« on: April 15, 2010, 08:11:04 AM »
While I was at mothers, It was the perfect time of year for blooms.  The best picture were taken in old cemeraries where they hadn't mowed yet.   {:-P;;

I found 2 or 3 of these huge ant hills.  My sister assures me that they aren't "fire" ants.

Beautiful pictures, thanks for posting.

Couldn't help but think; when I die, I hope they don't bury me in an ant hill.  :'(

Couldn't you sprinkle something on the ground on the ant hills like chili powder, salt or stuff they don't like?

The agriculturists at Texas A&M University have developed MAROON bluebonnets.

Oh, and if you pick the bluebonnets, you might be buried under some - it's illegal in Texas to pick our state flower.

I was driving back to Houston from La Grange on Hwy 290 two weekends ago, and every now and then traffic would slow down to a crawl, and next you'd see crowds of cars parked along side the road, and you'd wonder where the heck was such a terrible accident to involve so many cars, and then you'd see the scores of people walking from their cars and sprawling in farmers' fields filled with bluebonnets, all so they can take photos of one another amid the sea of blue.

Sue, I LOVE the first pic of the fire hydrant amid the sea of lupines!  And in the 4th pic--is that a dragonfly on the side of the tree?!!  If so, I've never seen one that color--it beautiful!   :)

Thanks, I just love going to Mothers this time of year.

I don't think that's a dragon fly...maybe just a piece of cord or something.
